A grant is that which is given as a benefit or as an act of charity.
Many Non-profit organizations in Africa have the initiative to help people that are lacking in one way or the other. Whether handicapped, special needs, autistic children, orphans etc. But they need sponsors; people who are willing to render help financially or otherwise.

1. A.B. Charitable Trust

ADF provides small grants of $250,000 or less to private and other nongovernmental entities in Africa to:
Finance sustainable poverty alleviating initiatives that are conceived, designed, and implemented by Africans and aimed at enlarging opportunities for community development;
Stimulate and expand the participation of Africa’s poor in the development of their countries; and Build sustainable African institutions that foster grassroots development.
4. Aga Khan Foundation Canada
Aga Khan Foundation Canada is a non–profit international agency that supports social development programs in Asia and Africa.
Its programs focus on four core areas: health, education, rural development and building the capacity of non–governmental organizations.
Gender equity and protecting the environment are integrated into every program.
5. Bernard van Leer Foundation
The Bernard van Leer Foundation funds and shares knowledge about work in early childhood development (ECD).
Eligible countries for future grants currently are Brazil, Colombia, the East Caribbean region, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, United States of America and Zimbabwe.
6. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Through its Global Health program, the foundation works to close the gap between rich and poor countries by encouraging new research and supporting healthcare organizations that reach people most in need.
7. Carnegie Corporation of New York
The Carnegie Corporation of New York was created to promote “the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding.”
Under Carnegie’s will, grants must benefit the people of the United States, although up to 7.4 percent of the funds may be used for the same purpose in countries that are or have been members of the British Commonwealth, with a current emphasis on Commonwealth Africa.
8. Cedar Foundation – Education & Children
The Cedar Foundation provides funding to enable students in disadvantaged circumstances to have the opportunity for high–quality education through college/university.
This is done through partnership support of orphanages, schools, and other charitable organizations providing academic development to children in USA, Mexico, South Africa and Kenya.

The Credit Suisse Foundation enhances participation through education by supporting innovative organizations and projects all over the world.
